What is Birl?

Birl makes it easy for fans to trade in their old West Ham United shirts and earn instant credit toward the new season’s kit. By teaming up with Birl, you’re helping keep shirts in circulation and out of landfill.

Eligible items include: Official men’s, women’s, or junior shirts from past seasons—including personalised ones.

You can start a trade-in from any product page in the West Ham United online shop.

How It Works

1. Trade
   Choose an eligible West Ham United shirt from a previous season on the Birl portal.
2. Spend
   Receive your credit instantly via email—ready to use on your next purchase.
3. Send
   Pick a free postage option, print or display a QR code label, and drop off your package at a nearby post point.

Frequently Asked Questions

Credit Details

• Can I trade in shirts from other clubs?
  No – we currently accept only official West Ham United shirts.
• Do I get credit straight away?
  Yes! It arrives instantly and can even be used before you post the shirt.
• Can I trade in multiple items?
  You can submit multiple trade-ins, but each happens separately and earns one voucher.
• Can I use multiple credits in one order?
  No – only one voucher can be used per purchase.
• When does my voucher expire?
  The expiry date is shown in the portal when you claim your credit (typically 12 months).

Postage & Returns

• Is shipping free?
  Yes – return shipping is free using our provided labels (Royal Mail, InPost).
• Need a printer?
  Nope. All carriers support QR code drop-off.
• How long do I have to return the shirt?
  You have 10 days after claiming credit. Unreturned items may result in your payment method being charged.
• International returns?
  Not yet—this programme is currently UK-only.

Recycling & Additional Items

• What happens to my shirt?
  We try to resell or upcycle every item. If that’s not possible, we recycle items—always with zero-to-landfill.
