With Bobby Moore as Captain, and Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters featuring for Ron Greenwood's team, West Ham United reached the 1966 Football League Cup Final, and in defence of their European Cup Winners Cup won in 1965, lost to eventual winners Borussia Dortmund in the 1966 semi-finals. Moore, Hurst and Peters all played in the 1966 World Cup Final for England against Germany at Wembley.
